Yeah, as Scott says, drag and drop, and more specifically the
mouse down and mouse up controls tends to yield better results and allow
us to drag and drop the way sights usually do on the mac.

Reaper on the
mac - it's a challenging work in progress. Honestly if Scott hasn't turned me
onto Reaconsole I'd probably still be living in a solely Pro TOols and
Garage Band world. Yes the mac version doesn't have the toolbars and other
elements contained in their own containers like most proper mac apps so there
is a lot to navigate through on screen. Also It doesn't properly *see* the UI
so unlike in the Reaccess world you can't just up and down arrow from track to
track automatically selecting them as u go. You pretty much navigate through
most of the track elements like I/O FX, Volume, Pan etc. Also a lot of
the shortcut you guys use were brought to reaper with ReaAccess. So i
had to go in and create a lot of those shortcuts like all the time
selection ones myself. That being said Between ReaConsole, Assigning shortcut
keys to actions, Making my custom actions, and having a control surface at my
disposal, I manage to make it work for me. Also knowing the mac and VoiceOver
the way you know Windows and your Windows screen Readers inside out
helps.Understanding the Mac's Conventions and Paradimes has helped me a lot
with making my way around apps like Garage Band and Reaper, as i use things
like HotSpotting and item Chooser to save on all the navigating and
interacting and stop interacting you would Do otherwise in some of these apps.
Also understanding the differences between drag and drop, and mouse down and
mouse up, and when to use which helps a lot also. Also a physical mouse or
track pad is needed as i said before, VO doesn't *see* the interface properly,
so the VO double click gesture doesn't work. Though sometimes VO+Space
automatically acts as a double click on certain elements, like highlighting a
track. I don't know that i would use reaper on the mac for a 24 track mix
project just yet, but for a few tracks like podcast or mixing
vocals/other instruments in with an already mixed backing track, its a great
time Save over Pro TOols at the moment, and ReaConsole has a lot to do with
that. SO seriously, ReaConsole is available on windows too as part of the SWS
Extensions. Learn to use it. It will make you love reaper even more. Me
personally, I don't have a modern windows machine in the house, and can't
really for sea every buying another one, and don't have eyes around to help me
boot camp. So it was worth the couple days of time it took me to make
shortcuts and custom actions, and i can now do my loop based productions with
the same efficiency i had on windows without using Garage Band. If only Pro
TOols allowed you to import loops and honored the loop meta data when
using the standard import dialogue, I would of never even dug in to reaper
like this. But alas, all the ways to use loops the way i like to are not
efficient with VO in PT.

On Sep 13, 2013, at 2:11 PM, Goldfinga
