<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Ok, here's what I know generally about
accessibility issues which may or may not help you.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>For windows, if standard controls are used, thken
about anything can be made accessible,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>but since many of these cross platform tools like
dot net framework and such are used to build these things, that is done
primarily with pixels, and that's not so accessible.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>So we end up using screen-scraping tools which
build second menus and route the mouse for us to click on things or lock on
knobs to make things go.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>If we're lucky, then clicking on a knob will give
keyboard access to the knob, and we can turn it that way.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Such as what happens with
sessiondrummer3.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Tooltips that bring up text are good, our
screen-readers can deal with that pretty well, but in general, the more keyboard
access the better.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>If one can pull down menus from a keyboard, or even
if we do have to do some mouse clicks, if we can run the mouse around the screen
and text speaks, then that is good.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>.ini files we can edit are good too.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Also giving midi cc access is good, and
documentation in plain text or rtf, anything but that blasted pdf
format,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>blind folks don't like pdf in general
'grin'.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Also, many vst's expose automatable
parameters.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>in reaper and in sonar in the inspector pane, and
the synth rack,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>and the fx view in reaper where we can adjust
values for things.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>So allowing that to happen is great.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Many plug-ins which are only pixels in the native
ui offer enough access with automatible parms that we can use them even if they
aren't scripted for.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Ok, there's a guy on here Roy, who you probably
know of already, he's a bit more of a programmer than I am, well, a lot
more,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>and he can talk turkey with you.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>So can Jim the snowman, who's the big
daddy</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>jaws dude who made hsc for us, the magic tool that
let's jaws users build their own access for difficult plugs.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>He's also started using hsc,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>which is a more generic helper app which isn't
screen-reader dependant so everyone can come to the party as it
were.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Ok, I've blathered on enough for now.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Time to dive in to pois.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
