I want to route channels 1/2 of master track to channels 17/18 of
my audio interface. This is how I work at the moment. I have done
this using the ReaAccess control+shift+I key combination, routing
for master track, and changing the single hardware output from 1/2
> 1/2 to 1/2> 17/18. I want access to all 18 returns of my
audio interface, so changing it globally in
preferences/audio/devices isn't an option. I've never quite
figured out how to get to the master track with anything that
doesn't have an off-screen model, I.E. NVDA, which is what I use
primarily in Windows, without using the ReaAccess stuff. For
example, I was doing a project a few months ago wherein I wanted
to setup multiple hardware outputs on the master track, so that
channel 1/2 went to 13/14, and channels 3/4 went to 15/16, but
without being able to get to the master track on-screen, I
couldn't add a second hardware output to master track. Once there,
I'm sure I could have accessed it using the ReaAccess master track
I/O dialogue.
least not in 3.7X. I don't think it does in 4.x, either. I
believe
it's actually visible on-screen somewhere if the option
for showing
master track is enabled somewhere in Reaper's preferences,
or
perhaps the view menu. I can't remember, since it makes no
difference to me.

This is one of the many reasons I can't use 4.x in a
production
environment, since I need to change the master track's
output from
channels 1/2 to channels 17/18 on my audio interface, and
ReaAccess
handling is broken in a way that makes this completely
useless. It
is possible, and very easy, to do this using 3.78 and
ReaAccess.
Yes, I'm aware that I could change the global output in
system
preferences, but then I would no longer have access to the
first 16
outputs of my audio interface, which isn't acceptable.
Anyway,
that's another topic entirely.
