Hi Roy and list,<br>
I've tried what you've suggested about quantizing midi in reaper,
but I must have done something wrong because it didn't work and I
kept hearing the midi the way it was recorded. I've tried playing
with the various parameters, and I didn't use the grid as you said.
It didn't work neither on a drum loop nor on a piano sequence.<br>
Any help with this would be very apreciated.<br>
Thanks in advance,<br>
Best regards,<br>

<div>hi Indi and all</div>
<div>I've succeeded in quantizing midi data in Reaper's built-in
midi editor.</div>
<div>after selecting the item in question , from the menu that
pops up select Open in editor|open in editor (should be Reaper's
built-in midi editor).</div>
<div>from the editor's view menu , make sure that the option to
view as event list is selected; this way we can see the events
as a list view , no need for piano rolls and grid settings.</div>
<div>from the edit menu choose Quantize...</div>
<div>in the resulting dialog , any combobox that indicates "grid"
as the value should be changed to a note length e.g 1/2 , 1/8
etc.</div>
<div>there are also combos for values such as straight , triplet ,
swing feels etc.</div>
<div>finally tab to the Comit button , then the ok button.</div>
<div>now , if you like your last used settings , the next time you
quantize , you can choose Edit|quantize|quantize using last
settings</div>
<div>so everything is accessible , no need for setting grid
values; takes a bit of getting used to though not to leave
settings at the "grid" option.</div>
<div>hope this is clear and helpful enough.</div>
<div>good luck</div>
