<BODY bgColor=#ffffff>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Haven't learned about chaining actions together
yet, or any conditional logic that might alter the chain. but, that's good
stuff. I want to do that.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Actually, the reason this came to mind is that I
was daydreaming about how you could implement demonstrations of various
reaper functionality if you could set up scripts of key sequences, and combine
them with short audio recordings, all of which would be played at the command of
the user. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Step 1: play the audio recording, describing
what we are about to demonstrate, what it is, and what it is good
for.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Step 2: manually step, one key press at a
time, through a list of predefined keys, so you could stop and examine the
results of each key press. This environment would tell you the key
just sent, so you could learn the sequences, and also let you rome the scrreen
in review mode, to see what happened.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Keep pressing the next button, until all keys in
the current sequence are sent.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Step 3: start playback of the next recording,
and listen to a description of what that sequence just did, and the significance
of where you are now.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>So, there ya go. Stuff like that. It's
a non-visual tour through one particular part of the application. And, it
seems like it would be wonderfully instructive, and a great way to capture the
steps required.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>I know how I could implement a tool like that in
jaws script land. It would let you look back at the key
sequences, to let you study them. Repeat audio segments, etc. Of
course, the demo engine would depend on you not doing things to break the
sequence, which is a problem. But, in jaws scrip land, I could trap
keys, and probably deal with that.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Anyway, again, just dreaming.
</FONT> <FONT size=2 face=Arial>But, if it could be done in a screen
reader independent fashion, it would be a wonderful training aid. It would
basically let you repeat exactly what the instructor had ordained for the class,
and would have the advantage of being very well focused on the
topic. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Then, you build a list of the demos, and people can
consult the list. You want to implement a compressor side chain
configuration? look it up in the list, and run the
demo.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>So, anyway, that's why I asked. I was just
pondering possibilities.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>I'm sure that would work, but it seems that
macros, of sorts, can be created by chaining actions together, and then
mapping the result to a key. It appears this can be done in the actions
dialog, which you can access by pressing f4.</FONT></DIV>
