Hi Rikki and all,<br>
I think this is all due to where reaper installs the configuration
components when you first run it without reaaccess. I had a similar
problem once and managed to fix it. What happened to me was that
windows for some odd reasons changed the path to where reaper
installed the config and other components. The usual path should be
C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming\REAPER. To locate your user folder
you can do the following.<br>
Type windows+R and then tipe the period sign, press enter and your
in your user folder. In there look for AppData\roaming; if you don't
find any folder named REAPER that's the problem. The folder has not
to be empty but must contain other folders in it like ColorThemes
etc, those are the missing components reaaccess wants. Probably
windows decided to put those in another path. What I did is creating
an empty folder named REAPER so that reaaccess could install. I then
found were windows put the missing components and manually moved
what reaaccess put in the folder I've created in its proper path.<br>
I tried my best to explain what happened to me and I hope it helps,
even if it sounds confusing.<br>
Best regards,<br>

<div>Hi Kerry,</div>
<div>Well this beats me! I did exactly as you said, double
checked that the user account control is definitely turned
off, and still got the same result with the version of
Reaper that you suggested. I think Jim is right! God
obviously objects to me using Reaper on this laptop for some
reason!</div>

<div>No worries. I just tried it on an XP machine with
no problem at all. That at least gives me a couple of
options, as I have another laptop with Jaws on it
which is running XP. I’m now going to try and fool my
Windows 7 machine by copying the folder from the
program files directory on the XP machine onto my
Windows 7 laptop, as I really would like to use this
machine. It’s a really nice setup. Failing that, I’ll
go with XP. That laptop needed to find a good use
anyway!</div>

<div> Yep, I see from below, that you already
discussed this. Sorry. </div>
<div> </div>
<div> When you installed reaper, did you mess with any
of the optional checkboxes? or did you just leave
them at their default settings. </div>
<div> </div>
<div> Likewise when installing ReAccess. </div>
<div> </div>
<div> If I were you, I would uninstall both of them,
and reboot my machine. Then, install reper, leaving
all selections defaulted. </div>
<div> Run reaper, an drink a really nice cup of hot
tea while it thinks about itself, then close reaper.
</div>
<div> Then, install ReAccess, leaving all selections
defaulted. </div>
<div> If it still doesn't work, I would throw up my
hands, and conclude that God didn't want me to do
this. </div>
<div> </div>
<div> I wish I could help further. Or, even at all,
for that matter. </div>
<div> </div>
<div> </div>
<div> I'm ot an NVDA user, so I'm not sure if that has
any impact, but I doubt it. I think several people
are using that. </div>

<div>Hi,</div>
<div>I hate to be difficult, but I did all that!
I even tried going back to version 3.78 and
the same thing happened. Another stupid
question, but is there a specific length of
time I should keep reaper open. I don’t get
any prompts that tell me that any kind of
setup has finished or to wait for a setup to
finish. I’m stuck for ideas now.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Thanks,</div>

<div> Sorry, I haven't followed this very
closely. Appopogize if stating the obvious.
</div>
<div> </div>
<div> Last I new about this was that, when you
install reaper, you first needed to run
reaper by itself, with outt installing
ReAccess. That first run of Reaper did some
further setup activities, and got things
ready. </div>
<div> Then, you close reaper. Then, you
should be ready to install ReAccess. </div>
<div> </div>
<div> Maybe you should just uninstall
everything, and run that sequence. </div>

<div>
<div>Just some further information here.
When I go to install Reaper, in the
components, I am unable to check the
“required files” component. I suspect
this might have something to do with
the scripts refusing to install, but
I’m just guessing. Is there a way
around this issue in the Reaper
installation process? Or is this
checkbox not being checked relevant at
all? Just a reminder that I’m using
NVDA. Perhaps it’s an accessibility
issue with that particular check box
on second thoughts, but again I’m not
sure.</div>

<div>
<div>Hi all,</div>
<div>I only found out about reaper
and its accessibility yesterday,
so please forgive me for
revisiting a topic which I know
has been covered following my
web searches to find an answer.
I’m getting this same prompt
that others have mentioned when
I attempt to install the
reaaccess scripts that some
components can not be found. I
did run Reaper and then exit,
both as suggested by the prompt
and by another list member, but
still no joy! Can someone tell
me how to resolve this please?
I’m running Windows 7 32 bit.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Thanks,</div>
