A bank number is from 0 to 16383, and a patch number is either 0 to 127 or 1 to 128, depending on the base. It is up to the synth to determine how it interprets that information. It isn’t standardized in any way.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>Try bank 0 and use patches 1 through 128. See if anything happens. Most softsynths respond to banks starting with bank 0. For hardware synths, though, the rules are entirely different. Roland, for example, has a complex scheme that uses the MSB of the bank number to select the area of memory used by that bank. If you don’t know how to interpret that info, then you end up with bank numbers like 8378 that seem to be selected at random.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>Most new synths don’t respond to bank/patch change, anyway. That’s old tech. It detects the program or synth that you’re currently using by examining info like the window title, and enables hotkeys that are appropriate for clicking just the controls of that synth.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>Of course, HSC only works for Jaws, and the ReaAccess project is attempting to stay screen reader neutral, so HSC might not be the best choice. You can accomplish similar tasks with AutoIt, but they are much harder to develop, and rquire that you know a little bit about basic programming concepts. Solutions that you make with AutoIt, though, are completely independent of a screen reader. Maybe you all can get a framework going for installing a set of AutoIt hot spots as part of ReaAccess.
