[Rwp] Item pan and volume

As you will see from my next post, I am not at all qualified to answer
your issue. I am trying to learn automation and have a long way to go.
My experimentation so far suggests that using latch instead of write is
a bit more consistent, but that may be my clumsiness. Before playing
back, switch to read or trim/read.
