[Rwp] SF2 Sound Module Things

yeh, I use a couple of things.
Vst synth font can load sf2 files,
and you can still use the sfz player from sonar if you can find it.
It will load in to reaper just fine.
also sforzando
will load up sf2 files, but beware, it doesn't parse multi-tembral files
well.
You can how ever, use sf Zed editor to split out sf2 intruments in to a
proper sfz and then sforzando will work better with that file.
I still have a huge library of legacy sf2 files,
and good sounds are good sounds, so I still end up digging through them
at times and sometimes even with conversions, you loose something and
always end up having to hand edit, so is usually best to play the native
format.
My favorite sf2 player of all time was
an old DXI tool called livesynth pro, it's ancient, but Roy and I still
like it, but it only works well on 32 bit systems,
but if you happen ever to have access to a 32 bit system with reaper,
you can use it.
But vst synth font will behave better in a 64 bit environment, it's just
not as easy to get around, and it wants to always load a default sound font.
but you can get around that by deleting the reference in the .ini file
and loadingthe one you want instead.
I an fixing to load up the Ipad with a bunch of cheap synths,
since they are so affordable in the little devices, and then run a real
midi cable out to the pad, and trigger sounds with reaper,
so I can control the Ipad with reaper, edit midi and all that.
I don't have a mac yet, but you can consider the Ipad a baby mac.
Sample tank and the like can respond to cc messages, so can load up the
midi controler and go to town.
The only thing I don't like about midi on the Ipad is there's a bit of
latency, but what do you expect from a little processor like that?
I can work with it though, slide stuff around a bit to sync up, maybe
I'll even sample some of my favorite instruments and make an sfz file.
