[Rwp] Take effects tail question

Hi, back home after a couple of months and back on Reaper again. I have inserted a delay effect on the item. It works brilliantly, except the delay tail cuts off too early. If I extend the item then the dalay goes on loger, which is great, but sadly it extends the item to include audio that I don't want. Is there anyway of extending the item so that the amount of audio played by the item is not extended, but the delay is? Failing this, I will have to insert the effect on a track, but this is working so well. I just need to get the delay to go on longer. Thanks.
