Efran! sorry about the late reply...

After inserting the software instrument, go in to reaper's mane window 
and press alt b. This will toggle the virtual keyboard. When the Virtual 
keyboard is activated, use the left and right arrow keys to change the 
octave of the keyboard. The track must be armed to here the output. In 
my personal experience, I've found that tracks must be armed before 
being heard, but I'm not sure. That's how I do it.
