I wonder if a cross-fade would help you, but the way I would do it is 
use reapitch as an effect and use a square shaped curve to slide between 
the pitches you're looking for. With such a small shift and the curve 
you'd be using, the bend shouldn't be noticeable.

Have you ensured that your item split occurs on a zero-crossing? That 
may help too,
