[Rwp] Midi questions

I am a huge fan of the sfz format.

I realize crafting sample layers and writing opcodes and text files is
not everyone's cup of tea, but if you learn a few of these it can be
very useful, and you might be surprised at what you can do.
There are good drum samples, and raw sample data to be had, both paid
and free, and
mapping your own keys and layers and such gives you a lot of flexibility.
I love sforzando, it's my favorite sfz player, and doesn't require
scripts to work.

Furthermore, the old sf2 format is ancient now, but so much stuf was
done with it, there are some pretty good instruments around all over the
net that were done on that format, so yeh, that along with kontakt,
but personally I have used kontakt, but it drives me nuts.
So if I get an open sample library that was made with kontakt, I'll just
whip up an sfz real quick and have done with it.

But that's just me,
this might not be suitable for others.
and forget it for locked down libraries.

This includes Spectrasonics Hypersonic II, the Korg Digital instruments (M1, WaveStation, etc), older Native Instruments (B3/B4, FM7, Pro53), the Ederol/Roland instruments (Hypercanvas, Quartet, Orchestral, etc), and so on. Copyright infringement isn't permitted on this list, even for abandoned software, so you're unlikely to have someone send you links to download these.
