I was able to reproduce this weird file extension disappearance with IE, 
but definitely not Firefox. Older versions of IE have this broken 
behaviour of trying to second guess the extension in certain cases. 
Thankfully, newer versions don't do it, nor do other browsers.

Chris, are you certain you didn't load this in IE instead of Firefox? If 
Firefox, what version?

It's kinda hard to explain, but I don't think I'm going to be able to 
fix this for snapshots. Either rename the file or upgrade your browser 
to something that is actually still being supported by the vendor. :) 
Releases (when they eventually happen) shouldn't have this problem.
