[Rwp] PreSonus mixers.

I have been using a Presonus StudioLive 16.4.2 for the past six years.
They have now been upgraded a bit in the AI series. Haven't had a chance
to play with one of those yet.

I like it over all. You can do 95% of everything you'd ever want to from
the front panel of the board. Despite the fact that it's a digital
mixer, everything is easy to get to. No menus within menus and huge
amounts of pages to worry about. Lots of dedicated controls for things
like routing to sends and subgroups. There are soft knobs, but
everything is context sensitive.
I think they did a pretty good job of bridging the gap between something
completely digital and a hands-on experience. Obviously, you will get a
real analog experience with something like the Mackie Onyx or A&H Zed
series, because they are true analog consoles with A/D and D/a, rather
than the native digital state of the Presonus StudioLive, Behringer X32,
A&H QU-24, and others in that class.

There are a few things that must be done in the unfortunately
inaccessible VSL software, such as taking the audio interface out of
"safe mode." You can override the driver default and decrease the buffer
latency within Reaper itself, and I've even managed to do it with NVDA
and VSL, but by default, there is a safety which adds some latency.

Also, there are some routing things that I, personally, like to change
with each new driver or OS install, which may not be necessary for your
setup, mostly useful for using the audio interface outside of a DAW.
This usually means I borrow a set of eyes for about a minute to drag a
couple of things around, then forget about it until the next time I need
to reinstall the OS.

However, I'm not sure if I would go with another StudioLive if I were to
buy a new digital board now, or a Behringer X32 producer. I like the
idea of the x32, but some things about it really put me off, too. I
guess I'd have to really play with one.
