Okay! I was able to change the gain on the tracks now. Not sure why it did not before. I will check out the muting issue and see what happens there.

Alt+arrow keys changes the volume of the track. This is for material already on the track. You mentioned arming the the track which is what you do when you want to record on to a track. Alt arrow s won’t change the input gain on the track. Do so by turning up the gain on your interface or the volume going to your headphones or monitors. If you are listening to another track playing back while recording and that track is too loud turn down that track also.

You can mute more than one track at a time, not sure why you are running into this issue.

The master track doesn’t really contain any audio per say just controls that affect the project as a whole any effects added there will affect the entire project. turning the volume up or down or the pan left or right equally will affect everything in the project.

Dear All,

I appreciate the patience of everyone on this list who have helped by answering my questions and those of the other Reaper novices on this list. I have three questions: First of all, I sent a message a week or so ago about adjusting the gain on a track for mixing. I was told to simply select the track and use the Alt-arrow keys (at least that is how I understood the directions). If I arm the track and do this, it does not seem to change the gain. What am I missing? Also, when I mute a track, it seems I cannot mute fore than one at a time. Is this so, or, again, is there something I am missing? Finally, now that I am recording and getting ready to mix, what information is contained on the master track that appears and what do I need to know about it? Thanks in advance for all the answers we will receive!

Peace!
