When i had my PODX3 Live i used it in that way as an audio interface and etc. The problem is like the GR55 it requires a lot of memorizing menus and buttons and etc and as someone who had a full time job and wasn’t using them for hours on end every single day the muscle memory for what was where didn’t build up and i spent too much time referring to notes to tweak stuff and not enough time playing. With Amp and effects plug ins on the computer there is nothing to memorize as i can see all the controls laid out in the program and manipulate them as needed. This just worked out to be easier for me. As for playing plugging into a real amp and twisting a few knobs works as well. Nothing against the POD stuff and i love what modern technology has given us but i just didn’t have the time to spend with it as a blind person to master it. As for the midi stuff i don’t use a lot of it but now that i have logic i am considering getting a guitar with a midi pickup again just to control some those soft synths but more for using it as filler or background parts in my more rock oriented products. The reason i avoided the GR55 the BG99 and the new Antares ATG1 floor processor is the calibration issue. I didn’t have eyes around to help me set it up either. The best thing i recommend doing in those situations is finding a local music store thats a dealer and buy it from them but ask them to assist in setting it up and etc before you leave the store if you get it from them. Too late for this situation but something to consider for future. In this case contact the local music store and find someone who works there that sells that stuff thats familiar with it and see if they are willing to come out and help you with it or if you can bring it and get some assistance. You may want to sweeten the deal with some cash for their time as well.
