[Rwp] Midi controllers and VST's

Hi all. So as someone who doesn't play keyboard, with a primary
instrument being guitar, when building midi tracks, are there any
options aside from manually inputting midi notes via text or using the
onscreen keyboard of a program like QWS? Or am I the only guitarist
out there with this problem... lol. Also, does anyone have any good
introductory information about VST plugins and how they work with
Reaper / midi sequencers / my computer in general? Can I use them as
software synthes to play midi fles through in things like say,
programs or games? Thanks.
