[Rwp] Can I assign a knob on a control surface to affect volume and pan easily?

You've got to be careful asigning random raw midi controls to actions,
because you can surely run in to a situation where things will conflict.
The last touched track for volume is probably safe, but with no
pre-defined control surface dll to sus out what needs to go where when,
you can end up with a situation ;where you think you've smartly assigned
many controls where they need to go only to find they are conflicting
with each other.
In other words, it's easy to think, ah ha,
I'll just make actions to every knob on my control surface and assign
all of them to my custom control surface template.
actions, and all will be golden, think again.
If you don't believe me, ask Patrick, he has three surfaces, and he
explained it a lot better than I am here,
it's just too damned bad this wasn't standardized along with midi back
in the day,
and each DAW has it's own pros, cons, and caveats, and methods to do this.
If you're only gonna do a couple, you are probably ok, but just letting
you know, there are a lot of pot holes in the road for just assigning
controlers this way on the fly with raw midi.
if you are going to do more than a few.
But experimenting is fun, see how far you get.

You can assign a midi controller to an action the same way you do a keyboard shortcut in the actions list as well as for stuff like that there are actions that you can only assign midi to.
