The REAPER API only directly provides a way to set the trim volume of a 
track; i.e. it doesn't affect automation. Those 1dB up/down commands use 
this API. There is a roundabout way of making this work for automation 
which basically involves pretending to be a control surface. Ugly, but 
probably not impossible. Unfortunately, REAPER's own volume nudge 
actions don't bother to notify surfaces, which is really irritating. See
