[Rwp] Automating effects

Well, one thing that does work is the volume up and down with alt down
and up arrow.
that particular action seems to honor the automation readand write modes.
So one could make a send to a bus with your fx, and then if you automate
the volume on the track you are in essence automating
the return bus instead of the send.
One guy on here says he got it to move by big amounts by slowing down
reaper's playback so he could move a big distance in a small space,
using the qwerty keyboard,
One thing you could do using the item based fake automation most folks
do here for mixing volume and pan changes and such is to make a copy of
your track one with all dry, and one with all wet with the fx you wanted.
Then slice up and dice up your fx track and raise and lower the volume
as you like,
for instance you know it's common to use delay to repeat just a few
words of a verse or chorus,
you can raise the volume of jus that item slice, and then turn it down
after that.
And by growing and shrinking your edges you can make your transitions go
smoothly between big value volume or pan changes in items.
This kind of sonic carpentry works so well for so many things,
my long time client Earl who writes country and folk songs, and has nary
a care for missed 8th or quarter notes,
or turning the beat upside down, well, reaper to the rescue to put him
relatively back on the beat 'grin'.
I haven't totally mastered this type of editing yet, but ifI mess about
with it I can usually make it better than it was.
Something Patrick could probably get perfect in 30 seconds 'grin'.
