[Rwp] Osara and automation

I'm not sure what Reaper version I was running at the time but, by using
trim/touch, I was able to automate effects parameters by using the shift p
dialogue in rea access. Maybe I had to do something in the parameter
modulation dialogue first as well. I can't remember, but it definitely can
be done,

When not using an automation write mode, the visual volume fader and
alt+up/down control the trim. When automation writing is enabled, they
control automation. In contrast, the contols in the i/o routing dialog and
the OSARA/ReaAccess parameters control only trim regardless of the
automation mode.

I'm not sure why ReaAccess can't automate FX parameters, although I believe
someone said this somehow got fixed by REAPER 5.0.4.

For those that care, the only way to manipulate the automation volume from
the API is to pretend to be a control surface. This is tricky, but perhaps
not impossible. It's yet another annoying quirk of the REAPER API. :(

there a way to access it other than alt up and down arrows or am I missing
something? I'm assuming that the edit field where you can type values is
main volume. also am I to understand that automation of volume and effects
is only accessible with osara and not reaaccess? sorry for the long post.

Unfortunately, this isn't possible, as the volume we can manipulate is the
trim volume, not the automatable volume. I may be able to work around this,
but need to look into it some more. So, in short, the only way to automate
volume from the keyboard right now is the alt+up/downArrow keys.

am confused. What are all the different modes for and when do I use them? I
am able to get the automation to take affect by using alt with the up and
down arrows for volume and left and right for panning, but that's all I am
able to do. I have tried going into Osara's parameter list and using page up
and down, however no such luck with automating that. Using alt up and down
works but it is so annoying. I wish I could just type values.
