That's partially true, applies directly to changes that affect the timeline,
or if items have been deleted. If you have made changes, such as volume or
pan on items or takes after splitting, then heal splits, you'll lose those
changes as the splits no longer exist, and the former items will inherit the
properties of their parent.
If you want to keep items contiguous, and also the timeline in tact, glue
might be your best option.
