Yep, that'll do it. Worth noting that you should only have to hit
Shift+A before the first split to select the item that's under the
cursor at that point. From then onward, so long as you don't make any
changes to track selection, S should do the job. I say should because
this is Reaper after all, and she can be a crafty wench. Assuming you
hear "one item added" when you hit S, then it's only happened on the
desired track.
Btw, this is the same in OSARA, except that with OSARA, you've also
got the ability to jump to next and previous transient which you might
find useful if the source material is lengthy. Plus there are the
little known but definitely factual advantages that OSARA makes you
run faster, smell better, and will double the amount of pushups you
can do in 2 months or less or your money back.
