[Rwp] Sending the output of multiple tracks to one track.

Hi, I’m trying to send the output of a few tracks to a bus track. I’m doing this as opposed to grouping the tracks or putting them into a folder because I want to be able to control the volume of each track independently.

Step 1. I create a new track with command T.
Step 2. I press I on the first track I want to send the output to the bus. This opens the track info window.
Step 3. I add a send, and tell the track to send to my newly inserted track, which will be my bus track. I believe this is the way Reaper works, which is different to ProTools and Sonar.
Step 4. I untick the option that says master/parent send. This should stop the sound being sent twice, once to my bus track, and again to the master track.
Step 5. Use NVdA screen review to turn the send to prefader, so that I don’t get the signal on the original track as well as the signal being sent to the bus track.

It all works great, until I try to adjust the volume of that track. Obviously because I’ve set it to prefader, the track volume isn’t affecting the signal being sent to the bus track.

I go back into the track info window and change it back to fader, but now my my signal is being sent to the track and also the bus track.

I think I must be doing something wrong, but my brain’s getting a bit frazzled with a whole day of Reaper. But other than that, everything else is working great.

Any ideas.

Thanks as always.
