[Rwp] changing synth on NVDA

I want to do it with NVDA but since there is no speech when NVDA is running I cannot do the change when NVDA is running. Make sense?

With JAWS I can change the config file or use Narrator. Oh! I _could_ use Narrator with NVDA. I'll try that.

Best,
David

I'm not sure why you don't want to pick an output device while NVDA is running. Isn't that what you do in Jaws, going Jaws > Utilities > Sound Cards, and picking one from the list?
The process is similar in NVDA. Run NVDA and go

Synthesizer Selection by pressing (NVDA+control+s), then go to Output Device
to specify your prefered output device.
Also, the manual is in HTML format, easy to navigate etc.
For instance, I typed "sound card" into Jaws Find, and was taken to the relevant section, 9.1.2.

Not complaining, just trying to say that NVDA isn't a huge paradigm shift from Jaws. It's not like switching operating systems or something. Things are logical. The only part that gives people trouble initially is getting the concept of ObjectNav down because it's different from the way Jaws flattens everything out and reorganizes things. If you ever want to play with the Mac and Voiceover, you'll run into the same concept of object navigation, so perhaps NVDA is a good place to learn about it. Here's the Blind CoolTech Podcast demystifying NVDA's ObjectNav.
