[Rwp] Low volume with VST instruments

Hello
When recording a VST midi instrument the monitor and playback volume is extremely low. I have to increase the volume to around +15.0 dbs in order to make the track usable.
Is this normal or are there any settings  that need to be made to correct this? I am using a Roland UM-One midi interface and a rather old Casio keyboard. Everything seems to be working except the low volume.
