[Rwp] Automation

Well, I just tried something that seems to work.
On the automation return speed in the automation tab, I set the return
speed to a ridiculously high number like 9000000000000
I don't know if that is how it's supposed to be done, but it stayed put
through a 2 minute song, so that's one rear about face way of doing it.
Now something else puzzles me.
My old wore out brain
seems to remember we had some issues with certain keyboard commands not
working with automation, I can't seem to get any of the things like
nudge volume down to work, the only one that will work is the alt down
arrow one when I switch automations modes to write.
so I wonder, what gives there, did we have to assign some special work
arounds to do that?
I've tried assigning some actions, and gone to the envelopes menu and
the automation menu in the track menu but no joy, the only thing that
works as expected in the tiny increments alt down arrow, even though
reaper says automation was written on the other commands sometimes, it
doesn't work.
