Hi, 

Sorry it was Alex with the slow down tip my bad. 

Couldn't you make envelopes happen this way though. Make a time selection or
whatever, specify the value you want to start and finish with and the curve
of the fade that you would like between the two points? Then, move the start
point to the end point and rinse repeat in circumstances where you want non
uniform or circular changes over all?

You don't need a controller. You can do it from the keyboard. The problem
with drawing envelopes (aside from the fact that this isn't possible via the
API until REAPER 5) is that there will probably be a huge number of points
and you'll be dealing with raw values.
