that is strange, have you tried to load a bank, just for the heck of it? 
or maybe you can check the output in the fx window when you load it.
you can compare the value from sylenth1 with another synth you have that 
works.
i have never experienced any "silence" from sylenth1 and once you get it 
running its tons of fun playing around with the osc stuff and other 
controls:)
