[RWP] Selecting Audio

Hi guys,
I would really appreciate your help. I am practically blind, I'm a
Jaws for Windows user. I'm very very new to Reaper (only 2 days) but I
feel like I have learnt more about Reaper in these 2 days than about
other music editors and DAWS in weeks. Naturally, thanks to Reaaccess.
I don't have a Reaper licence yet, but I'm thinking about getting one,
because I fell that I'll finally be able to produce music without the
help of a sighted person. But first I have to be sure.
My question is very simple, I'm sure it has already been answered but
the archives are down and so I couldn't check it. Anyway... Here it
goes...
If you make a time selection (E.G. select a number of measures on the
'timeline') and start recording, Reaper will only record or
're-record' the selected measures, right? But how do I select a
certain range of beats or measures? I've read the list of
keyboardshortcuts, but they don't make any sence to me. Also (and this
is another question), how do I select a range of items? What if 2
items totally overlap? Pressing shift + a would select both items,
right? Is there a way to select only one or to toggle between all the
selected items?
Sorry for all these questions, but hopefully they are very basic and
they won't take a lot of time to answer.
Thank you for your help!!!
