Yes, that's correct. Once you navigate to a marker with the number keys on the number row or the bracket keys, you'll be selecting the marker and not an Item. Thus, the Marker will be removed once you press the delete key and the Item will remain in place.

Oh, Ok.  Thanks for that.
What I was concerned about is the fact that the delete key does different
things, depending on what is selected.
So, I guess that, when you go to a marker, with a  number keys, or with the
bracket keys, that, when you land on the marker, by definition no item is
selected.
Is that right?
Otherwise,  I expected the delete key to delete the item.

just press the Delete key.
