That's an interesting point. What does CakeTalking use? I know it has
single key mute/solo/arm, but does it use function keys too, and if so,
which ones?

As I've pointed out before, a console is different because it has
dedicated, separate keys. On many keyboards, it takes longer to locate
specific function keys than it does to press keys on the main part of
the keyboard.
