Aha, think I see the problem. Potentially two of them actually.
Under Preferences / Control Surfaces, after you hit the add button and
choose Tranzport from the combobox, there are options to set the MIDI in and
out ports. It's not immediately obvious that those options are there waiting
to be set, because they're not in the tab order of the window for some
reason. You'll need to use the virtual cursor or object navigation of
whatever screen reader you use to locate those two additional options and
set the MIDI I/O before pressing ok.
Once you've done that, if it still doesn't work, try disabling the Tranzport
ports under Preferences/ MIDI Devices. I have no idea why, but on this
system that's how the thing has been set for ages, and it works.
