[Rwp] setting up my control surface to control vst synths and efects so i can do automation?

I can't help with your specific controller, but I can say that, with my
Korg NanoKontrol2 in Mackie (sonar) mode, it is not practical to control
VST effects. I have to switch to another mode for that, so that it
doesn't operate the track pan/volume and transport controls, sending a
completely different set of CC and NRPN values for the buttons, knobs
and sliders.
I think I will eventually use two control surfaces, one for basic track
operations, and another just for a dedicated button/knob box that I can
map anywhere.
My Yamaha Motif XS6 can operate as a control surface, so perhaps I'll
set that up for tracking, and the Nanokontrol for generic things, when I
get all my midi stuff up and running again.
