[Rwp] setting up my control surface to control vst synths and efects so i can do automation?

hey all, i have a livid instruments CTRL:R  which i have set up to control aspects of reapers track view such as volume play/stop and pan. 

But please could some one explain to me how to set up my control surface to control vst synths and effects? 

your help with this matter would be most welcome kind regards trey.
