[Rwp] MIDI event list fous

Hi all,

I tend to deal with a fair bit of MIDI. The REAPER MIDI Event List is
actually pretty good, but as I'm sure many others have noted, focus
doesn't seem to follow the edit cursor. That is, if you enter the Event
List when the edit cursor is positioned part way through the data, the
list view focus still starts at the top. Similarly, when you play and
pause while the Event List is focused, the focused item doesn't change.
Unfortunately, I can't locate the correct list item using the API alone;
believe me, I tried.

My question is: do any of you know (or do you have a pair of eyes you
can ask nicely to find out) what sighted users see here? From what I've
been able to tell, the list view does scroll if the nearest event is not
on the screen (even though focus isn't updated). However, this alone
isn't enough because it's quite possible that the nearest event *is*
still on the screen; e.g. fi you played and stopped only a short time
later. Do sighted users get any indication of which is actually the
nearest event in the Event List or do they only get scrolling?

If sighted users do get some sort of indication, I'm hoping I can use
this to turn this visual indication into actual focus. Otherwise, I do
have another idea of scanning the list view's position column,
processing the textual positions and trying to find the nearest position
to the edit cursor, but that's something I'd prefer to avoid if I can.

Thanks,
Jamie
