I say this only having used UAD with reaper and Pro Tools on OS X has i have one of the thunderbolt interfaces. But when i did my initial research before purchasing i was made to believe the story was the same for both windows and mac. The plug ins themselves are accessible with their Native presets available in the DAW’s preset list. However the console isn’t and you will need sighted assistance to authorize demos and to use the console. Some of the software/firmware updates may require some eyes along the way. The upshot of this is if you call UAD customer support and explain that you are blind, they will usually be willing to remote into your system to do the initial set up and authorize any demos you would like to try. But if you get one of the unison enabled interfaces, you will need eyes to load plug ins in the console to take advantage of that stuff. Have some mac users have done some scripts for that part of the process with Keyboard Maestro and or move mouse, i imagine the same could be done for windows with HotspotClicker or AutoHotKey. Also unless you are into UAD’s faithful emulation of classic gear or you are trying to avoid upgrading your CPU to handle more effects, The third party plugs in on the UAD platform usually end up on sale more often and at better sale prices else where than the versions on the UAD platforms do. However UAD is generous with handing out $25 and $50 coupons a few times through out the year and they do have some bonus promotions going at the moment that may make picking up a unit more worthwhile than usual.
