[Rwp] Midi in Reaper/qws.

If you have sonar, then to me that is the best possible midi access
there is,
and going to qws would be overly complicating things,
but if you want to work that way, then you just need a midi interface
and run both sonar, and qws and sometimes you can use a multi-client
driver to share an interface, or other times you might want to separate
things out and use
different hardware for each, and just midi it up.
There are also any number of virtual midi tools, which can help you
accomplish the same task,
and some soft synths even come with their own virtual midi ports.
Dimention pro
has a stand alone
mode too, so you don't have to load up sonar,
now when I did this before many years ago, I had some sort of conflict
with qws,
and I think I was using savvy host or some such vst thingy to load my
synth, and it didn't like it, but you could use different machines to
separate things out and treat your synth on a separate box like it was a
hardware module.
and run it from qws on it's own box.
that means having separate interfaces again, but you are pretty much
guaranteed you won't have conflicts.
So in summary, you can do this, and there are many ways to approach it.
