[Rwp] Midi in Reaper/qws.

Hi all. I'm thinking of playing around with midi again, and not sure if
I should use Reaper, or qws as several people here have recommended.

I see on the qws page it says you can use software synths as long as
they show up as midi instruments. Can you use things like Dimension Pro
with it, and if so, how? If you can I'll happily go join the qws list
for all my qws needs, but I figured somebody here would know, and I
can't see joining a list just to find out I can't do something. I ask
because I might want to use synths with Reaper, e.g. for drums, but I
pretty much have the synths that come with Sonar Producer an that's it.
I have no hardware synths whatsoever and don't really plan on getting any.

If I can use those directly in Reaper, that would be even better. In
case it matters, for midi controllers I have two of the Korg Nano
things, the keyboard one and the one with the drum pads, and an M-Audio
Axiom 61. I doubt it does, but just in case. So at this point I'm just
going for hook up controller, get sequencer (Reaper or qws) attached to
software synth, whack thingies, make noises. Come to think of it, since
qws doesn't do any audio output, wouldn't you have to hook the synth up
in Reaper anyway? So I take it you'd set up the synth and then import
your already-sequenced midi from qws into Reaper?

I know there's not only a qws manual but tutorials, so if that's the way
to go I'm good. I just need the quick basics of midi with either Reaper
or qws if it's better to use that instead of Reaper at this point ...
assuming I can use Dimension Pro with it of course. But if Reaper will
work, well there we go. In fact that would be ideal. But I thought I'd
ask about qws since I think several people have mentioned it here as a
Reaper companion. Again in case it matters, I'd probably start with the
Korg controller, they take up a lot less space than the Axiom. I'd also
likely start with Dimension Pro, as I have to install stuff anyway, and
that's the most straightforward one to start with.
