[Rwp] A Mac?

Hi Kevin.
Depending on what you are doing,, Mac can be just as perfect choice for
your recording as Windows is. If you are looking to try something new, then
by all means consider jumping into the Mac ecosphere. There are enough
options to keep amateurs and professionals happy.
If recording is your bread and butter, then I would certainly think twice
before jumping into an unfamiliar territory. I'd rather spend that time
concentrating on the music itself.
The reason folks think that Windows is more accessible is because a number
of companies and individuals put their time and energy into making the
music software tick. Neither Sonar or Reaper by themselves are accessible
with a screen reader. It's JSonar, CakeTalking, HotSpot Clicker, ReaAccess,
OSARA, etc, that make them so. Take away the JAWS scripts from the setup
and you will see just how fabulously accessible these DAWs are!
On the Mac the situation is quite different. Because Apple does not offer
us any solid scripting ability to customize VoiceOver, we are at the mercy
of the companies, like Apple, Avid and plugin makers to grab whatever
accessibility is given to us.
Protools has made strides in the field of accessibility, and so did Logic
Pro, but the progress has been rather slow and inconsistent, without a
clear product strategy, especially in case of Logic Pro.
I made the latest snapshot of OSARA talk on Mac OS with VoiceOver, but much
functionality still needs to be ported.
My several cents.
