Hey another one I forgot about and just went and got again is

ampLion Free
and they have a paid version too.

It may or may not serve the metal heads here, but it sounds like it's 
got a wide variety of tones,
with several channel and speaker options and mic positioning even for 
the free version.

I just tried it in sonar, and many automation parms exposed, so I can 
just about guarantee it'll work in reaper.
