It's worth noting (just in case people don't realise) that you may not
necessarily need to record new takes. Let's say that in take 1 of the
verse, the performer got the middle phrase right, but in take 2, they
got it wrong. However, take 2 was better overall. When you split the
problematic phrase, you can switch that phrase to take 1 but leave the
other items on take 2. That is, all takes are preserved when you split.
