It wasn't filed by me, but I updated it with further information on what
needs to be done.
Even once the Windows stuff is fixed to be equivalent to the Mac, that
still doesn't give us access to items, takes, etc. That is going to take
a lot more work. Also, making it as efficient/user friendly as something
like OSARA or ReaAccess may not be possible without changes to
accessibility frameworks.
On Windows, NVDA and Narrator are probably the only screen readers that
can make extensive use of this, since they allow you to explore objects.
Screen review techniques like JAWS cursor or NVDA screen review won't
see this.
I don't imagine any of this will happen any time soon. This is why I'm
focusing on OSARA for now and filing requests to improve the API, which
are much simpler for Cockos and likely to happen much faster. That said,
I'd still like to see full accessibility implemented out of the box in
the long term.
