So let's say your surface is displaying 8 tracks. Which one does the 
keyboard follow? Is it the one you most recently manipulated; e.g. if 
you press mute on track 3, the keyboard will then be dealing with track 
3? That's certainly something I could try to enhance.

There is a way for Sonar surfaces to go to tracks, yes. Whether that 
actually happens is probably dependent on the particular surface driver.

It does seem very strange that REAPER still doesn't have a way via the 
API to set the last touched track to an arbitrary track. You can manage 
it in various hacky ways, but it can't be done cleanly.
