No worries, hopefully we just got off on the wrong foot.

Out of interest, did the delete key not work for you to remove time
selection? It's context sensitive, so if you were to move to the start
or end of your time selection and then hit delete, it should zap the
audio that was selected. If you meant getting rid of those start and
end points without changing the actual audio, escape should already do
that.
