[RWP] Newby question, difference between plugins and software instruments ETC.

Well, even if we haven't tutored before together, I am available for low 
priced tutoring,
and have a lot of years under the belt doing recordings for others and 
myself, with many different tools.
and have helped many get over the hump.

Come see me if it get's too wild and wooly for you.

I'll answer one basic question here.

Plug-ins
come in different formats, but one very common type is called vst, which 
stands for virtual studio technology,
and was developed by steinberg many years ago to offer a common platform 
to develop audio tools.

These can include reverbs, compressors, samplers, synths, equalizers.
most anything audio, and once you scan a vst plug-in you're digital 
audio workstation will be aware of it and can use it.

These vst's can be shared with any
recording software
which is vst aware.
But the ui may not display the same way in each recording system, ie, 
sonar, reaper, cubass, so that's why we can't use the same access tools 
for each vst cross platform.
