[RWP] Newby question, difference between plugins and software instruments ETC.

Hi. :)
All those that you mentioned are software synths. 
Software synths are mostly plugins that are used in Reaper, Sonar or other DAW programs.
People usually play them using USB Midi keyboards or pads.
Now, there are also plugins that are not software synths. These plugins deal with effects like reverb, delay, chorus and the like.
In addition to that, there are also plugins for other functions apart from what is mentioned above.
