Try this.
Open an uncompressed audio file in reaper, both on windows and the mack.
Render the file, with no processing.
If the mack adds warmth and loudness, as you say it does, then the 
differences will be clear if you open both files in any given daw, putting 
one out of phase with the other.
If you hear no sound when pressing play, there is no difference.
We use this process in cavi's audio course when we want to demonstrate the 
byproduct of encoding audio in various lossey formats.
