[RWP] A workflow for fake automating groups of tracks or folders

Chaps,

Today, I've been mixing a song with a lot of backing vocals. No
really, a lot of them. As I approached my fourth hour of slicing and
dicing to tidy up the raw tracks, I found myself wondering why on
Earth I don't have a workflow for fake automation on folders. Does
anybody else?

So far, I've tried inserting a blank item of the full length of the
song onto the track that's designated as a folder in the hope that I
could slice that up or apply effects to only certain items and have it
apply to everything being routed through that track, but nope, Reaper
temporarily forgets I'm dealing with a folder. Same unfortunate
behaviour applies to an item which isn't empty, but contains a wave
file that's as close to silence as I could get, so it's not the item
being empty that's causing the issue, Reaper is just forgetful lol.

Does anyone have a method that works?
